A day can make a difference

You've heard it time and time again, and it still rings true.

"What a difference a day can make!"

Yesterday, I talked about how capped-out I am. Today, I'm talking about how much more I can be.

I finally got around to reading "The Secret Law of Attraction" e-book that's been circulating in Facebook. And I must say, it's very much like Think and Grow Rich and How to be Rich - with a twist - in the fact that this new e-book is a modern adaptation to the current world. And WOW, is it ever an awe-inspiring book!

For those who may need a lift, I suggest you go and download it.

How much of an edge do you really need?

I've had this question in my mind for quite some time ever since I've reduced my reading of personal and professional development materials. There are times when I feel burnt-out in the learning curve. I felt like I had very little to learn, that my brain was full.

I'm sure there are many others out there feeling the same way. While I was in the search for "an edge" over the competition, whomever they may be, I've also come to discover I had not done enough to exercise what I've learned. Or maybe I have.

While I know I'm not quite there yet, the desire to learn more is there, just not as
burning as it used to be. Sometimes, it just feels like:

"If I have to psychoanalyze another thought or process, I'm going to scream bloody murder and drench my brain cells in some flammable ether."

That might help my stopping thinking altogether, but it won't help me progress.

So - what to do?

I figured at least for this past year, having not planned anything or any kind of direction except to say "go with the flow" and "enjoy my life", that I really don't owe myself the effort because it has been quite unpredictable, yet still fun.

Fun is what it all comes down to for me.

"If it ain't fun, why do it?"

I've heard this mantra many times before and usually, there's consequences to face after the fact. Not so in my case since I haven't been extreme enough to get myself into trouble.

So really, I still ponder - How much of an edge do I really need? And an edge over whom?

Pushing too hard can also put me over the edge so that it becomes a detriment. And that's how reading these books sometimes make me feel.

"Why can't I just be and think more than anything else?"

This year, I think I've done that.

Next year, I'll be setting some goals - very specific ones. And the time to learn is upon me.

Handling Criticism

I was in a conversation just recently, talking about how to handle criticism. The person whom I had this conversation with thought that only people with thick skins were able to deal with criticism, whether it's a personal attack or through their own profession.

I don't think it's fair to say that criticism doesn't bother anyone. The thing is, when confronted with criticism, people do tend to get emotionally charged. I think it's more fair to say that everyone handles it differently. It all depends on how well developed you are yourself, having learned certain techniques or epiphanies that move you along the journey.

Some things that I've learned:

1. Remove yourself from yourself. If the goal is to make yourself better, then take all kinds of feedback, whether it's destructive on constructive. If someone is critical about you and keep hammering at you, ask the question - why? Find out the true reasons instead of hiding from them. Get a perspective that allows you to change.

2. In that sense, be more curious than being defensive. Take 6 seconds to breathe if you have to and then listen. Most people would rather talk than listen. Don't be like most people.

3. If someone doesn't believe in you or isn't confident, then why are you associated with this person? It's time to fight or fly. From the professional standpoint, know what you CAN do and do really well, and concentrate on that instead of your weaknesses. When people do what they love and love what they do, especially if it's their unique ability, then everyone has their sense of purpose and belonging. They fit better into any organization. If this doesn't work, then fly.
From the personal standpoint, you might want to run from this negative person instead of fighting. Sometimes it's just better for your sanity.

In all cases, keep your eye on the goal for yourself and be sure your actions are in alignment with yourself. If they're not, then someone might actually call you on it.

A sure way to get wealth

I've been studying the Law of Attraction as well as anything that can generate or even define the wealth I want in my life. I have comes across yet another secret which some people don't know much about, and it's something which i have actually proof that it's true.

"Wealth depends on the number of connections made."

After reading an article about how this applies to networks, the same power law applies to wealthy people. I also came across the same kind of concept in Malcolm Gladwell's book,
The Tipping Point, where he describes a connector as a person who is able to make friends with many people and have influence because of this.

So if that's all we have to do in order to go where we want, what are we all afraid of?

Or perhaps it's just me in my certain phases - though I believe we all have our "moments".

In any case, another piece has been uncovered. Now is the time to challenge myself towards it.

How about you? Will you do what it takes to get what you want?

Be awesome!

Trek Across Maine 2007

Well, I just registered yesterday for a great bicycle ride that will definitely make a difference!

Having had asthma when I was a little kid, I am now giving back helping others who are less fortunate than myself. For me, I had fought through my breathing challenges and actually overcame them a long time ago. But there are still others less capable. So this Trek Across Maine 2007 is a great fund-raising activity to help out the American Lung Association in their research and education.

I also get to see the state in a unique perspective, so it's a win-win!

Be awesome!

Alignment of the Self

I think I've written about this before. I know I've thought about this frequently whenever I come to a point where an important decision is to be made.

First, what alignment to me means the same as congruency. Who you are and what your beliefs are must match what you do. What you do is usually based on what your beliefs are. I found that whenever there was a conflict in my beliefs and what I was doing, progress slows. This time delay can also be called The Law of Gestation, where one uses time and experiences to align themselves in either belief or action. This Gestation period obviously does not happen instantaneously. Instead, it might takes many days, months or even years before more progress in self-growth appears until there comes to a certain point where an epiphany (or light bulb moment) arises.

Congruency also translates into a better energy form. Since everything is made of energy and since we fluctuate all at different frequencies, these frequencies tell the universe the status of our being. That in turn tells the universe what we are suppose to attract in our lives. What we attract in our lives then affects us in a most subconscious way, either affirming or discarding certain beliefs.

When someone is congruent with themselves, they are more harmonious with all things good. When they are not in congruent, or misaligned, well, you get the picture.

For me, I know I fight with it daily - in little things as well as within the big picture. My beliefs are therefore not set in stone as they are always changing and adapting. At least with a mentality like that, I am most congruent with all that is around me.

Stop seeing with only your eyes

I just had to write another one.

I run across people every day who only see with their eyes. Imagination, or what's beyond your eyes is unknown in the physical world. Imagination is in the mind, and apparently, that's the other 95% of the brain most people do not use.

It's no wonder some people don't ever reach their potential. They don't understand the intangible, or the dream-state where the magic of life is found.

Out of all the success books I've read, almost all of them refer to some part of the brain that produces imagination. So why don't people do more imagining? Perhaps they're afraid of success?

For me, I always imagine. I always strive for the next plane of thinking. It's the only way to get to my goals. I would love the day when everyone starts to use their imagination the most. That's when a civil utopia will be formed.
